Today’s post for teens is all about FREE ONLINE COURSES! Before you scream that you’ve had enough learning at home, you should check out some of the ideas we’ve found for your student. Free Courses
CollegeBoard is offering resources so that AP students can continue working toward college credit and placement. They are providing free, live AP review lessons that focus on skills and concepts from the first 75% of the course. There will also be some supplementary lessons from the final 25% of the course. The courses are delivered by AP teachers from across the country. Learn more at CollegeBoard
Babbel is offering three months of free language learning to U.S. students through mid-June 2020 in any of its languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Dutch, Turkish, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Indonesian, and English. Learn more at Babbel Free Trial
Coursera is offering free online courses for high school students. From Guitar for Beginners to Dog Emotions and Cognition to Building Your First Android App, they have all of your interests covered! Learn more at Coursera
The folks over at Everfi are providing families in the Piedmont-Triad region with free SEL resources to use at home. It also has some great career exploration activities geared at STEM, math, science, financial wellness, and much more. If your student doesn’t already have an account, you’ll have to go through a simple process to create one. Visit Everfi
Does your teen want to learn to code? Here are a couple of free online resources: Code Academy and Kaggle
Is your teen interested in photography? Nikon is offering free classes during the month of April. Although some of the classes are specific to Nikon cameras, a few of their offerings can be used with any camera brand. They have classes covering the fundamentals of photography, macro photography, and how to make music videos. To learn more, visit Nikon Events
TED-Ed offers videos on a variety of topics. You are able to register as a student, parent, or educator in order to customize the learning experience. Visit TED-Ed
Class Central has organized a comprehensive list of free online courses from top universities around the world, like MIT, Stanford, and Harvard. From Self Improvement to Digital Media to Quantum Computing, they have discovered a wide variety of classes on just about any topic you can imagine.
Finally, was your teen excited about learning to drive this spring? Even though Driver’s Education classes may have been temporarily suspended, Ford is offering free online driver training for teens and parents. This class does not replace standard drivers education programs, but it provides advanced information regarding life-saving safe driving skills. Learn more about this opportunity at Motorbiscuit
